Meet Our Team
Executive Director Denise Cavanaugh has a unique, varied background, including corporate, higher education, and not-for-profit leadership positions. She is anxious to meet all the business owners in our county and work with them to fulfill their needs. She is committed to helping businesses succeed and bringing new businesses into the county. Herkimer County is a beautiful gem of tourism with activities and destinations for everyone and her goal is to get that word out!!
Outside of work she and her husband are the proprietors of Raindrops on Roses Bed & Breakfast and Wine Tasting Room in Herkimer, and she loves to share our area with guests from all over the U.S. and the world! She enjoys teaching, training, and education of any kind and spends her free time enjoying her two adult children, traveling, running, movies, and walking her Old English Bulldog, Karma.
Office Manager Sarah Harrer makes things happen! From account management to referrals to inquiries, Sarah keeps it all together and has the expertise and know-how to help businesses make the most out of their memberships. She knows every store, factory, and diner within a 30-mile radius of Herkimer County and takes great care of each and every member with her time, attention, and assistance. She loves seeing businesses succeed by connecting them with the partners and resources they need to help their businesses grow.
Outside of work she is married and has three teenagers. She loves supporting her children’s extracurricular activities and tearing it up at Live Well Fitness. She also has her own freelance business where she is a proofreader and an editor. It’s her creative outlet!
