Canal Place, Little Falls
The quaint shops, galleries, restaurants and inns situated in the old mill buildings and storefronts along the waterfront of Canal Place have become known as the happening place for the arts in the Mohawk Valley. Even today, after conversion to serve as retail space, many of these rugged but lovely structures speak to our great regional manufacturing heritage. If you are looking for fine arts, entertainment or antiques, you simply must pay a visit to Canal Place!

Remington Arms Gun Museum
Remington Arms Company in Ilion, NY was established in the year 1816 and will soon celebrate 200 years of operation. It is the oldest continuously operating manufacturer in the Unites States. It all began when Eliphalet Remington left Suffield, Connecticut to venture westward in pursuit of a new life for his family. In 1814, Eliphalet’s father built a small stone forge on Barringer Road, where Eliphalet began his conquest in forging a suitable gun that would meet his standards. Thus began his research into designing what would become America’s best known rifle.
At one time, Remington also manufactured bicycles, sewing machines, typewriters, cash registers, bridges & cutlery, some of which are displayed in the Remington Museum. Visitors are welcome to tour the museum and shop the Remington Country Store, located in the first block of Catherine St. at the east end of the manufacturing facility. The hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, closed 12-12:30pm daily for lunch. The museum and store are closed on all major holidays and will also be closed the first two weeks of July for their annual plant shutdown.
